Auto-buy keeps choosing the item that pays back fastest, even when it is out of reach
The best-value upgrade is useless if you must wait ages for it while a slightly worse one pays today. Here is a score that counts both the waiting and the paying back, so an automatic buyer feels sensible to watch.
Why this works
The best purchase is the one that is earned back soonest counting everything, including the time spent saving up for it. Ranking by payback alone ignores that an item you cannot afford yet gives nothing in the meantime.
When not to use it
Skip it when the order of purchases is part of a story or a tech tree, so that cheap, fast payback is not what the player is after. Then a plain list or a guided path serves better than a score.
