Estimate how much picture memory your game needs before an old phone runs out

The game files look small, yet on an older phone the game closes by itself or goes black. The pictures take far more room once opened than they do as files. This entry shows how to make the AI add up the real memory cost of every picture and warn you early.

Why this works

A file on disk is packed small to travel. To draw it, the phone has to unpack it, and the unpacked size depends only on the picture's dimensions, not on how simple it looks. So add up the unpacked cost of what is loaded at once, per scene.

When not to use it

The sum is only an estimate. Phones also need memory for sound, code and the system, and some compress pictures their own way. For the final word, test on the oldest phone you want to support and watch whether it holds.

Say this to your AI

Use the Spielerando entry "Estimate how much picture memory your game needs before an old phone runs out" (read_entry game-crashes-on-old-phones-texture-memory) in my game. Build it step by step, and show me how you checked that it works.

Or skip this and connect the MCP: your AI then finds all of this by itself.Connect the MCP
