Spielerando

A vehicle or boss cuts corners or jitters when it follows a route

Steering at the next route point gives wobbling and sharp turns, steering at the nearest point never moves forward. Here is the aim point that gives smooth curves, and the one mistake that makes a route that passes near itself send the unit back.

Why this works

Steering at the next marker makes a unit lurch at every corner, and steering at the nearest point never moves it on. A point a bit further along the route swings round the bend before the unit gets there, so the unit follows in a smooth curve.

When not to use it

Skip it when the unit must touch every point exactly, like a guard checking spots, a train on rails or a path through a narrow gap. Cutting corners would clip walls. Walk those routes point by point instead.
