Keep ambient animation steady when the app returns from the background

A player switches to a message and comes back thirty seconds later. Butterflies, clouds and water jump, speed through a burst of catching up, or the game freezes while it tries to simulate the time it missed. Here is the small loop that keeps the picture calm and never falls behind itself.

Why this works

Ambient things like clouds and birds have no correct place after a long pause, so catching up would only waste effort and freeze the screen. Limiting the catch-up and dropping the rest lets the app recover at once.

When not to use it

Don't use it for anything that really progressed while away, such as crops, timers or a battle. Work those out from the saved time stamps, because dropping the lost time would cheat the player.
