Spielerando

Find the spots in a level where the player drops in and can never get out

One-way drops make a level fun, until a pit has no way back up and the player is stuck for good. Here is how to list every such trap in a finished level automatically instead of hoping someone notices, and why checking the exit alone is not enough.

Why this works

A level is only fair if every place the player can reach still lets them finish. Looking forward from the start finds where they can go; looking back from the exit finds where they can still win. The places in the first group but not the second are the traps.

When not to use it

Skip it when the game has a restart button, a respawn or a way to climb out by digging, or when a dead end is meant as a punishment. Then a trap is a choice, not a bug. Use the list as a design note only.

Say this to your AI

Use the Spielerando entry "Find the spots in a level where the player drops in and can never get out" (read_entry find-pits-the-player-cannot-leave) in my game. Build it step by step, and show me how you checked that it works.

Or skip this and connect the MCP: your AI then finds all of this by itself.Connect the MCP
