Fix a crate-pushing puzzle where crates go through walls or other crates
Pushing a box looks easy until the box meets a wall, another box or the edge of the map. Then boxes vanish, merge or the player walks into solid stone. This entry shows how to make the AI decide a move in one place, so that only a legal push ever changes the board.
Why this works
A rule that lives in many places will be broken in one of them. If one single place decides whether a move is allowed, and nothing else can touch the board, then a refused push leaves everything exactly as it was, and the answer is clearly yes or no.
When not to use it
One-at-a-time pushing is the wrong rule if your puzzle lets players pull boxes, push rows of boxes, or slide on ice. Those change what counts as blocked, so write the new rule first and keep it in that same single place.
