Smooth paths
A smooth curve that passes through every point you give it, walked at a steady speed. Lay out a route with a few points and get a line with no corners.
When you need it
For patrol routes, race tracks, rails, moving platforms and camera flights, where you know the places to pass and want the curve worked out for you.
Say this to your AI
Use the smooth paths from Spielerando so my guard walks a rounded loop through these five points at a steady pace.Or skip this and connect the MCP: your AI then finds all of this by itself.Connect the MCP
Settings
- spacingWeight (0.5): How much the distance between points counts. 0 ignores it and can tie knots, 0.5 is the balanced choice and does not, 1 can swing wide again next to a short piece.
- samplesPerSegment (24): How finely each piece between two points is measured. More gives a steadier speed.
- shape (open): "open" stops at the ends, "loop" joins the last point to the first.
Your AI gets the code
The finished code and math come through the Spielerando connection, so your AI can use them right away. Connect your AI
Common questions
how do i make a curve through several points
Use a curve that goes through each point, not one that only leans towards them. Each piece looks at its neighbours, so the line stays smooth where two pieces meet.
how do i make an enemy follow a smooth path
Mark the route with a few points, measure the path once, then move the enemy by distance along it. That keeps the pace even and gives you the direction to face.
why does my path make loops at sharp corners
The plain curve swings wide when points are unevenly spaced. The balanced setting here takes the distance between points into account, and it does not tie knots.
