Smooth noise
Random numbers that change gently from place to place instead of jumping. It is the base of natural-looking hills, clouds, caves and wandering movement.
When you need it
For generated terrain and caves, drifting clouds, flickering torches, grass moving in the wind, or a creature that wanders without looking random.
Say this to your AI
Use the smooth noise from Spielerando to make rolling hills from a seed, with fine detail on top, so the same seed always gives the same land.Or skip this and connect the MCP: your AI then finds all of this by itself.Connect the MCP
Settings
- seed (1): The starting number. The same seed gives the same pattern.
- layers (4): How many copies are stacked. More layers give more fine detail and a rougher look.
- layerScale (2): How much finer each layer is than the one before.
- layerStrength (0.5): How much weaker each layer is than the one before. Higher gives a rougher look.
Your AI gets the code
The finished code and math come through the Spielerando connection, so your AI can use them right away. Connect your AI
Common questions
how do i make natural looking terrain
Plain random numbers look like static. Smooth noise changes gently, so stacking a wide layer and a few finer ones gives you hills with natural detail.
why is my noise always zero
This kind of noise is exactly zero at whole-number positions. Multiply your position by a small number such as 0.07 first, which also sets how big the features are.
how do i make a flickering torch
Feed the time into one-direction noise and use the result for the brightness. It wanders up and down in a natural way, without repeating or jumping.
