Reflect part of a blow back at the attacker without a never-ending ping-pong

A thorn armor that hurts the attacker is simple, until two fighters with thorn armor meet and the damage bounces between them until someone drops dead from one hit. And reflecting a blow that was never dealt gives free damage. This entry shows the stop rule and the right base.

Why this works

A rule that triggers itself needs a clear mark on what it created. Once an answer is known as an answer, it can never start another, so the stop is built into the thing itself and needs no counting.

When not to use it

Skip it in a game where a chain of echoes is the point, such as a puzzle of bouncing energy. Then give each bounce less strength and let a visible limit end it, so the player can follow it.

Use the Spielerando entry "Reflect part of a blow back at the attacker without a never-ending ping-pong" (read_entry reflected-damage-that-cannot-bounce-forever) in my game. Build it step by step, and show me how you checked that it works.
