How to Vibe Code a Roblox Game: A Weekend Plan

To vibe code a Roblox game, turn on the MCP server built into Roblox Studio, connect your coding AI and let it build and playtest while you direct. Publishing comes in steps, and reaching players of all ages takes far more than pressing a button.

Details are from Roblox's pages on 2 November 2026.

Connect your AI to Studio

  1. Open Assistant in Studio.
  2. Choose … and then Manage MCP Servers.
  3. Turn on Enable Studio as MCP server. A green indicator shows connected tools.
  4. In Assistant Settings, under MCP Servers, use Quick connect to turn on your tool. Claude Code and Cursor are both supported.
  5. Restart your AI tool.

Older guides point to a standalone server on GitHub. That project is archived and now recommends the built-in one.

Roblox warns that connected tools can read and change your open places, so connect only tools you trust, and keep a copy of your game.

Why this changes everything

The server lets your AI write scripts, run code, start and stop play mode, read the console, take screen captures and even press keys and move the mouse. So it can walk through your game by itself, which a chat never could. That only helps if it walks the right route, which is why you give it a map first.

The weekend plan

Penguin Egg Dash is an invented obstacle course: a penguin carries an egg over ice and gaps to its nest.

Saturday morning. Have the AI draw the course as a diagram, then build the first stretch and one checkpoint. Mermaid is the format, plain text that shows up as a picture at mermaid.live. Play it.

Saturday afternoon. Add the egg. Does it stay with you when you fall? That is the sort of rule the diagram should settle before any code. The stamina page shows the kind of detail worth spelling out.

Sunday morning. Add a timer and a best time. Fix what annoyed you on Saturday.

Sunday afternoon. Invite two friends. Watch them play and say nothing.

How do I publish it?

Roblox's requirements began rolling out on 19 May 2026, in steps:

Audience What you need
Personal use Anyone can publish
16+ and Trusted Friends An age check, an account in good standing and at least 2 days old
All ages All of that, plus ID verification, two-factor sign-in, an active Roblox Plus or Premium subscription or a refundable 1,000 Robux fee per game, and passing the evaluation

In the evaluation, games are first tried with age-checked users over 16, and Roblox reviews signals and reports before showing them to younger players. Plan for the first step this weekend. The last one is a project of its own, and the rules may have moved by the time you get there.

If you are not sure yet what to build, the topics can give you ideas. To make single scripts by hand, read where each script goes.

Paste this to your AI

You are connected to my open Roblox Studio session through its MCP server. We are building Penguin Egg Dash, a short obstacle course where a penguin carries an egg to its nest. Falling sends you back to the last checkpoint with the egg.

First write a Mermaid diagram of a run: start, moving, falling, back at checkpoint, finished, and what happens to the egg on each arrow. Check for dead ends and show me. Then build one piece at a time from it.

After each piece, start play mode and walk that part of the diagram with simulated input. Take a screen capture and read the console. Give me the capture, the console lines and what you pressed, then stop play mode.

If a piece only looks right in the editor and you have not walked it in play mode, call it "unplayed". If something fails twice, stop and show me what you saw, not a new guess.

Or skip this and connect the MCP: your AI then finds all of this by itself.Connect the MCP

How to check it worked

  • Walk the course yourself. Its input is not your thumb.
  • Fall with the egg. You should land at the last checkpoint with the egg, as the diagram says.
  • Compare the capture with your screen. They should match.
  • Read the console. Red lines need an answer, even if the game seems fine.
  • Ask a friend to play on a phone, if you expect phone players.
