Meta Games: why some achievements are worth up to 3× EXP
Finishing Red Dead Redemption 2 is not the same as clearing a five-minute indie. Meta Games are how Spielerando reflects that: their achievements are worth up to three times the EXP.

Every achievement tracker faces the same problem: an achievement is an achievement. Unlocking "Finish the tutorial" in a short indie game counts exactly as much as working through a 60-hour open world. Spielerando adds a layer on top of the platforms to fix that: Meta Games.
What is a Meta Game?
Meta Games are a curated list of blockbusters and classics: the games people talk about years later. Every achievement in a Meta Game is worth more EXP, on every platform where you play it. We sort them into three tiers:
| Tier | EXP multiplier | Examples |
|---|---|---|
| Legendary | ×3 | Grand Theft Auto V, Red Dead Redemption 2, Elden Ring, Baldur's Gate 3, The Witcher 3, Cyberpunk 2077 |
| Epic | ×2 | Half-Life 2, Portal 2, Skyrim, Fallout 4, Hades, Hollow Knight, Disco Elysium, Resident Evil 4 |
| Rare | ×1.5 | Kingdom Come: Deliverance, Stardew Valley, Final Fantasy VII, Chrono Trigger |
The full, current list is on the Meta Games page. Grand Theft Auto VI is already on it as Legendary: the moment it shows up in a linked account, its achievements count triple.
How the multiplier works
Spielerando first gives every achievement a base value from its rarity (more on that in how EXP and rarity work). The Meta Game multiplier is applied on top. An achievement half of all players have is worth about 20 EXP in a normal game, and about 60 EXP in a Legendary Meta Game. A rare one that only 1% of players have is worth about 76 EXP normally, and about 229 EXP in a Legendary game.
Meta Games are matched by title, so it does not matter whether you play The Witcher 3 on Steam or on GOG, or the Remastered edition: the multiplier follows the game.
Meta achievements: badges across all your platforms
The second part of the meta layer are meta achievements: Spielerando's own badges that look at all your linked platforms at once. A few examples:
- Polyglot: play games on three different platforms (+300 EXP)
- Halfway Legend: unlock half the achievements of a Legendary game (+500 EXP)
- Ultra Rare: unlock an achievement fewer than 1% of players have (+300 EXP)
- Meta Completionist: reach 100% in a Meta Game (+1,000 EXP)
Their EXP counts towards your total and your rank on the leaderboard.
Why curate at all?
Pure rarity already rewards hard achievements, but it cannot tell a landmark game from an obscure one. A small, transparent list of games that most players agree on keeps the leaderboard fair while giving the big journeys the weight they deserve. The list will change over time, and every change is applied to everyone at once.
