GOG: why only games started with GOG Galaxy show playtime and achievements
Linked your GOG account and most of your library says "not played yet"? GOG only records playtime and achievements for games you start through GOG Galaxy. Here is why, and what you can do.

Many players link their GOG account on Spielerando and are surprised: the whole library is there, but most games say "Not played yet", even classics they finished years ago. This is not a sync error. It is how GOG works.
GOG is DRM-free, and that has a side effect
GOG sells games without copy protection. You can download the installer, install the game anywhere and start it without any launcher. That freedom also means GOG has no way of knowing when you play. Only GOG Galaxy, GOG's optional client, records your sessions and unlocks achievements.
So GOG keeps stats only for games you started through GOG Galaxy:
- Playtime and last session are recorded from the moment you play through Galaxy.
- Achievements are only unlocked while Galaxy is running; games installed from an offline installer never report them.
- Games you played before installing Galaxy, or outside it, have no stats at all.
What Spielerando shows
We read your public GOG profile, which lists every game you own together with the stats GOG has. Games with stats get playtime, achievements, rarity and EXP. All other games are still listed in your library, marked "Not played yet", and they do not count towards your number of games played or your average completion.
How to get your stats in
- Make your GOG profile public: on gog.com, open your account settings, then Privacy, and allow everyone to see your profile.
- Install GOG Galaxy and start your games through it from now on.
- On your Spielerando account page, press "Sync now" after a session.
Achievements you already earned without Galaxy cannot be added afterwards, but many games unlock achievements again when you load a save with Galaxy running.
